ARIA’s opportunity spaces represent areas where the organisation believes transformative breakthroughs may be possible, and where it’s already building momentum through the work of our current Programme Directors and their funded portfolios.
As an ARIA Programme Director, you will design and lead an ambitious, multi-year R&D programme within or around these spaces. With a budget of ~£50M, you will select, fund, and actively steer a diverse project portfolio that cuts across disciplines and institutions towards a focused goal that will unlock scientific and technological breakthroughs that benefit everyone.
Do you have a genuinely original insight that you believe must be funded in the form of a programme? Can you articulate why this matters and cruically, why now? And can you attract brilliant people, make difficult decisions and actively steer a portfolio as science develops? Gemma is a biomedical physicist. Currently an Assistant Professor of Medical Therapeutics + Head of the Neuro Optics Lab at the University of Cambridge, her work focuses on developing non-invasive brain monitoring in real-world environments where traditional brain monitoring isn’t usually possible.
